Can the Blue Jays really aquire the 5 time all-star closer to fill their biggest gap in years? Yes, they finally can.

During the offseason Papelbon announced that he would like a trade to the Blue Jays, although many; including myself; believed that it wouldn't happen. But now Papelbon voiced that he is unhappy with the Phillies and would be very upset if he wasn't traded sooner or later. This is the Blue Jays chance, and it is better then ever. Last year Papelbon had 66.1 IP, and ERA of 2.04, 36 k's and 39 saves! Some players that Toronto would have to consider giving up include Dioner Navarro (274 BA, 12 HR and a career high 69 RBI), Michael Saunders (career high 273 BA, 8 HR and 34 RBI), Steve Tolleson (273 BA, 2 RBI in only 11 MLB AB's) and possibly Daric Barton (158 BA and five RBI in 57 AB's). Some fair deals would include ethier Saunders and Tolleson or Navarro, Tolleson and/or Daric Barton. Both would be fair as Navarro has been playing much better then Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz, and with the fact that the phillies have been running low in the out field, Saunders could easily be thrown right out there in some trade talks with Pillar as hot as he has been.

With the Blue Jays in need of a closer and with the Phillies in need of money (Papelbon is making 13 million USD this year), many deals could easily be made for these teams as it should benifit them both.

Toronto Blue Jays: 9W-7L

Philadelphia Phillies: 5W-11L
